Since then, the two countries have maintained close ties across key sectors including railway development, education, healthcare, culture, and heritage preservation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>French Development Agency (AFD) is providing substantial financial and technical support for the sustainable restoration and preservation of the Lalibela Rock-Hewn Churches, one of Ethiopia\u2019s most treasured UNESCO World Heritage Sites. The initiative reflects the strong commitment of both nations to safeguarding history and cultural heritage for future generations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Cooperation between Ethiopia and France has also significantly contributed to archaeological research. Joint scientific studies carried out over several decades in the historic areas of Axum and Lalibela have played an important role in deepening global understanding of Ethiopia\u2019s rich historical legacy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition, the \u201cAlliance Ethio-Fran\u00e7aise,\u201d established in the late 1940s, continues to serve as a vibrant cultural bridge between the peoples of the two countries by promoting arts, language, music, and cultural exchange.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Beyond their historic ties, Ethiopia and France are now expanding cooperation into modern sectors aimed at strengthening Ethiopia\u2019s economic growth and development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>France\u2019s continued support for Ethiopia\u2019s efforts to transform its immense tourism potential into tangible economic opportunities is also viewed as a key pillar in further enhancing the future partnership between the two nations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>By Birhanu Workneh<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>AMN Plus-May 13, 2026 The longstanding relationship between Ethiopia and France, rooted in more than a century of friendship and cooperation, continues to grow stronger through renewed partnerships and shared commitments.
