Prime Minister Abiy has announced that the construction of the 3-million-ton fertilizer factory being developed in the Gode area of Ethiopia\u2019s Somali Region is progressing steadily, with intensive efforts underway to complete the landmark project ahead of schedule.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Following his visit to the project site today, the Prime Minister revealed that although the factory was initially planned to be finalized within 40 months from the commencement of construction, the rapidly increasing global demand for fertilizer has encouraged both the government and investors to expedite the project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to Prime Minister Abiy, a firm agreement has been reached with renowned investor to complete the factory in less than the originally planned 40 months. Once operational, the plant is expected to satisfy Ethiopia\u2019s domestic fertilizer demand while also generating export opportunities through surplus production for international markets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Prime Minister noted that what once existed merely as a vision has now evolved into a massive industrial project taking shape on the ground. He emphasized that within the coming three to four months, the site is expected to witness remarkable transformations and visible construction progress.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As part of the broader development, a modern residential village capable of accommodating up to 5,000 workers is also under construction. The housing complex is anticipated to become fully operational by the upcoming September Month.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Prime Minister Abiy further explained that extensive infrastructure works are advancing simultaneously, including the installation of water transmission systems, land leveling operations, filling low-lying areas, and preparing the site for the main plant structures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition, he disclosed that large volumes of machinery and essential construction materials required for the fertilizer factory have already been procured and are continuously arriving at the project location.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Prime Minister commended investor Aliko Dangote for honoring his commitment by dedicating substantial financial investment, professional expertise, and time to the successful realization of the project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Abiy also reaffirmed the government\u2019s continued commitment to providing close supervision and coordinated support through strong collaboration between federal and regional authorities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
