Mayor of Addis Ababa City Adanech Abiebie described the rally held this morning at Meskel Square as \u201cvery special\u201d in a statement released on her official social media platforms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The mayor said residents began arriving at Meskel Square before dawn, expressing their support.
\u201cThe people marched to Meskel Square before dawn and expressed their support with great joy. It seemed as though no one was left at home,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mayor Adanech stated that the event marked the final rally and election campaign program ahead of the upcoming election.
\u201cTo the residents of our city who sacrificed their sleep and came to Meskel Square during the night to support and encourage us, I thank you very much on behalf of myself and my party. We respect you,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The mayor added that the gathering had sent a strong message about the public\u2019s belief in democracy and elections.
\u201cYou have sent a great message to the world that Ethiopians believe only in elections and are capable of building a democratic system. We have shown the world that we are a strong people who can establish a government through elections and public approval,\u201d she stated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the mayor, elections are not merely about voting, but also about building a stable political system, ensuring lasting peace, and sustaining development efforts.
\u201cWe are establishing a democratic system where the people are the holders of sovereign power. Political power should not be achieved without the approval of the people,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mayor Adanech further emphasized that conducting the 7th general election in a democratic, peaceful, fair, and credible manner remains one of the main objectives of the ruling Prosperity Party.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She also acknowledged competing political parties and media institutions for contributing to democratic debate and political competition throughout the campaign period.
\u201cUntil now, we have presented our ideas, debated peacefully, and challenged one another through ideas while the public listened. From now on, let us trust the people to make their decision,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The mayor concluded by thanking residents for their continued support throughout the campaign.
