Mayor of Addis Ababa Adanech Abiebie, in a social media post this morning, announced the inauguration of the Entoto\u2013Kechene Riverside Development and Service Facilities by Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed (PhD).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cToday, in the aftermath of Election Day, the Entoto\u2013Kechene Riverside Development and Service Facilities were inaugurated by His Excellency our Prime Minister and officially opened for public use\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The area stretching from Entoto to Kechene, where the forest that serves as the source of many rivers and the lungs of our city is located, has been restored to its natural state.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Monuments and artifacts commemorating the hardworking culture of the local community have also been built, giving the area a completely attractive and impressive appearance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Kechene area, which was previously unsuitable for human habitation, has now been opened to the public in a manner that enables the city\u2019s limited land resources to be utilized for public services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Entoto\u2013Kechene Riverside Development, which covers 597 hectares and extends 9.6 kilometers, has become a large urban park designed to accommodate recreation, business activities, and various social events.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fifteen hectares of land have been covered with greenery through urban agriculture, while the remaining area includes 210 modern beehives, as well as flower and vegetable gardens.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Other infrastructure developed as part of the Entoto\u2013Kechene Riverside project includes 6.4 kilometers of roads, 8 kilometers of cycle lanes, 22 kilometers of pedestrian walkways, 4 kilometers of hiking trails, and 39 check dams.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition, two new road bridges have been constructed, while three existing road bridges have been renovated. Other green development projects have also been carefully planned and implemented.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
