Commissioner of the Ethiopian Investment Commission, Zeleke Temesgen(PhD), held discussions with the U.S. Ambassador to Ethiopia, Ervin Jose Massinga, on ways to enhance the participation of American investors in Ethiopia\u2019s investment opportunities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the meeting, Zeleke provided a comprehensive overview of Ethiopia\u2019s investment opportunities and the ongoing policy and institutional reforms aimed at making the investment climate more predictable and investor-friendly. He also highlighted measures being undertaken to address challenges faced by investors and improve the overall business environment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Commissioner emphasized the importance of further strengthening investment relations between Ethiopia and the United States. He noted that the Ethiopian Investment Commission is ready to work closely with stakeholders and the Embassy to strengthen Public-Private Dialogue (PPD) platforms, support Ethiopia\u2019s accession process to the World Trade Organization (WTO) and jointly organize a U.S.\u2013Ethiopia Trade Forum.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For his part, Ambassador Ervin Jose Massinga commended Ethiopia\u2019s ongoing reforms to improve the investment climate and liberalize key sectors for foreign investors. He stated that accelerating and deepening these reforms would create a more favorable and predictable environment for U.S. companies to invest in Ethiopia with greater confidence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Ambassador further noted that American investors have strong interest in investing in Ethiopia, particularly in sectors such as the international airport project, mining, healthcare, infrastructure, finance, and technology. He reaffirmed the Embassy\u2019s commitment to working closely with the Ethiopian Investment Commission to help realize these investment opportunities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The discussion also reviewed progress made under the Ethiopia\u2013U.S. Structural Dialogue and explored ways to further strengthen bilateral economic and trade relations. Topics raised included issues affecting U.S. investors, information exchange, and foreign investors\u2019 equity participation in Ethiopia\u2019s banking sector, as well as other matters related to U.S. companies operating in or considering investment in Ethiopia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
