Ethiopia\u2019s tourism sector registered significant achievements during the first three quarters of the 2026, strengthening the country\u2019s global visibility and successfully hosting numerous international events.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Speaking at a general staff meeting held yesterday to review the Ministry\u2019s performance and discuss priorities for the remainder of the fiscal year, Minister of Tourism Selamawit Kassa said the approval of Ethiopia\u2019s Tourism Policy marked a major milestone and established a solid foundation for the sector\u2019s future growth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Minister noted that strong cooperation with the private sector and regional governments played a key role in the sector\u2019s progress. She highlighted Ethiopia\u2019s active participation in national and international platforms aimed at promoting the country as a leading destination for MICE tourism (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to Selamawit, more than 800 tourism attractions and resources were identified across the country during the reporting period, making it one of the most productive periods for the sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Looking ahead to the final month of the fiscal year, she emphasized the need to maintain momentum on ongoing initiatives and ensure the timely completion of projects. She also called for intensified nation-branding and promotional efforts, improved project implementation quality and efficiency, and stronger collaboration with partner institutions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Minister further stressed the importance of completing the preparatory phase of the government service and administrative reform program, describing it as a critical undertaking for the institution. She noted that initiatives already launched under the reform agenda require sustained commitment and additional effort to achieve their intended outcomes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

State Minister for Tourism Destinations and Infrastructure Sileshi Girma said numerous activities had been undertaken throughout the fiscal year. He underscored that, in addition to Ethiopia\u2019s traditional tourism offerings, the identification and integration of new tourism products into the national policy framework stand among the sector\u2019s most notable accomplishments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Likewise, State Minister for Marketing and Promotion Endegena Abebe stated that the government\u2019s growing focus on tourism is beginning to produce tangible results. He encouraged stakeholders to build on the successes achieved during the fiscal year, while addressing existing gaps to enhance the sector\u2019s competitiveness and sustainability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
