The African Union Commissioner for Political Affairs, Peace and Security, Ambassador Bankole Adeoye, has commended Ethiopia’s National Dialogue Conference, describing it as a fully Ethiopian-led and Ethiopian-owned process with the potential to foster lasting peace and national unity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ethiopia’s first-ever National Dialogue Conference officially commenced at the Addis International Convention Center under the theme, “A Nation Sustained by Dialogue.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Addressing the opening ceremony on behalf of the African Union Commission, Ambassador Adeoye described the conference as a unique and historic milestone in Ethiopia’s history.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He said it was a great honor to represent the African Union Commission at such a significant occasion, noting that the conference is not only historic for Ethiopia but also a moment of pride for the entire African continent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Commissioner emphasized that the National Dialogue represents a remarkable achievement with the potential to make a meaningful contribution to sustainable peace, reconciliation, and long-term development in Ethiopia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He praised the dialogue process for being entirely Ethiopian-led and Ethiopian-owned, reaffirming the African Union’s unwavering commitment to supporting the initiative throughout its implementation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ambassador Adeoye further stated that the African Union remains firmly committed to assisting Ethiopia in its pursuit of sustainable peace and development, stressing that the AU’s support is guided by the aspirations of Agenda 2063 and the shared vision of a peaceful and prosperous Africa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

More than 4,000 participants from across Ethiopia are taking part in the historic National Dialogue Conference, which has brought together representatives from diverse communities and sectors to deliberate on the country’s future through peaceful and inclusive dialogue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
