Mayor of Addis Ababa Adanech Abiebie Commends Top-Performing Public Institutions, Says Hard Work Earns Recognition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mayor of Addis Ababa Adanech Abiebie, in a statement released on her official social media platform this afternoon, announced that the city administration has recognized and rewarded government Bureaus, public institutions, sub-cities, and districts that achieved outstanding performance during the 2026 fiscal year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The mayor said the recognition was awarded to institutions that delivered tangible results in improving public service and ensuring greater benefits for residents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Among cabinet-level bureaus receiving vehicle awards were:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

1st: Peace and Security Bureau<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2nd: Health Bureau<\/p>\n\n\n\n

3rd: Revenue Bureau and the Design and Construction Works Bureau<\/p>\n\n\n\n

4th: Education Bureau<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Special Award: Lenegewa Women’s Rehabilitation and Skills Development Center<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Among Addis Ababa’s sub-cities, vehicle awards were presented to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

1st: Bole Sub-city<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2nd: Lemi Kura Sub-city<\/p>\n\n\n\n

3rd: Addis Ketema Sub-city<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Among non-cabinet institutions, vehicle awards went to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

1st: Law Enforcement Authority<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2nd: Roads Authority<\/p>\n\n\n\n

3rd: Water and Sewerage Authority<\/p>\n\n\n\n

4th: Drivers and Vehicles Licensing and Control Authority<\/p>\n\n\n\n

5th: Cleaning Management Agency<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The mayor also noted that 33 districts were recognized, with between one and three top-performing districts selected from each sub-city.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Certificate awards were also presented to several institutions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Among cabinet-level bureaus receiving certificates were the Finance Bureau, Industry Development Bureau, Communication Bureau, Trade Bureau, and Justice Bureau.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Among non-cabinet institutions, certificate recipients included the Civil Registration and Residency Service, Workplace Development Administration, and Addis Media Network.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Certificate awards among sub-cities went to Kolfe, Lideta, and Yeka sub-cities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mayor Adanech emphasized that the recognition belongs not only to the award-winning institutions but also to leaders, professionals at all levels, stakeholders, and the residents who worked together to achieve the results.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She said the awards are intended to strengthen collaboration, encourage healthy competition, inspire lower-performing institutions to improve, and reinforce commitment to delivering better public services rather than create complacency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The mayor added that the recognition carries a responsibility for the coming fiscal year to work even harder to improve service delivery, expand access to public services, and ensure greater benefits for the people of Addis Ababa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
