Ethiopia is set to host the 2026 African Logistics and Communication Symposium (ALCS), one of the continent’s premier forums on logistics and communications, from July 27 to August 1, 2026, in Addis Ababa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The high-level event is expected to bring together delegates from 40 African countries alongside 26 leading international industry partners, providing a platform to strengthen cooperation, share expertise, and advance logistics and communication capabilities across the continent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Speaking at a press briefing ahead of the symposium, Major General Teshome Gemechu, Director General of Foreign Relations and Military Cooperation at the Ethiopian National Defense Force (ENDF), and Brigadier General Paul Frick, Director of Logistics at the United States Africa Command (AFRICOM), underscored the significance of the gathering.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Major General Teshome said Ethiopia’s selection to host the prestigious continental forum reflects the country’s enduring contribution to regional peace and security, its remarkable development progress, the rapid transformation of Addis Ababa, and its proven ability to successfully organize major international events.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He noted that the symposium will not only deepen cooperation between Ethiopia and the United States but also serve as an important platform for African defense institutions to exchange knowledge, strengthen professional partnerships, and enhance collaboration in the fields of logistics and communications.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Describing logistics and communications as the backbone of both military and civilian operations, Major General Teshome said the week-long event will enable participants to share best practices, learn from one another, and jointly explore practical solutions to emerging challenges. He added that the experience and expertise gained from partner countries will help strengthen the logistics and communication capabilities of the Ethiopian National Defense Force, while Ethiopia will also contribute its own experience in support of continental peace and security.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For his part, Brigadier General Paul Frick expressed the United States’ pride in co-hosting the 2026 African Logistics and Communication Symposium with Ethiopia. He commended the extensive preparations undertaken by Ethiopia to ensure the success of the event and emphasized that the symposium will further elevate logistics and communications cooperation between the United States and African nations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He said participating countries will spend the coming days assessing their logistics and communications capabilities, identifying common gaps and operational challenges, and collaboratively developing sustainable, practical solutions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Brigadier General Frick expressed confidence that the symposium would be marked by meaningful collaboration, innovation, and shared learning. He noted that stronger partnerships and expanded professional networks would enhance national capacities and contribute to greater peace, security, and prosperity across Africa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
