Speaking at the 800 million tree-planting campaign, Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed (PhD) recalled that over the past seven years, Ethiopians have made significant efforts to plant trees throughout the rainy season each year, aiming to beautify Ethiopia and lay the foundation for the nation’s future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He emphasized that the goal of this endeavor is to build a prosperous Ethiopia that ensures food self-sufficiency and grows into a modern nation in line with the aspirations of all Ethiopians. The Prime Minister stressed the vital importance of laying a strong foundation to realize this vision.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Now we are working for our children. We plant hope, we plant tomorrow, and we adorn Ethiopia. This is done through cooperation and the active participation of all Ethiopians,” he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He noted that other countries are trying to follow Ethiopia’s example after recognizing the country’s achievements in this regard.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Prime Minister stated that governments around the world have acknowledged Ethiopia’s efforts. Beyond receiving international recognition, Ethiopia was selected to host COP32, a major global conference expected to bring together 80,000 to 100,000 participants, including around 100 world leaders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to him, Ethiopia has never hosted such a large international event before. Likewise, no sub-Saharan African country has organized an event of this scale. He expressed optimism that COP32 will provide Ethiopia with a valuable platform to demonstrate its firsthand experience and achievements to the world, describing it as great news for the nation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“I hope it will serve as a great example of what a united people can accomplish in laying the foundations for nation-building. As we do this, we must remember that we are leaving a legacy for our children. Planting trees may not seem significant today, but it will be meaningful for tomorrow because trees provide food, shade, and beauty. Beyond that, they protect the soil from erosion. Therefore, given their many benefits, I call on all Ethiopians to play their part in achieving today’s goal of planting 800 million trees, as well as meeting our annual target.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Today, Ethiopians are exerting maximum effort to plant 800 million trees, starting early in the morning. I am confident that we will fulfill our promise by planting more and more trees,” he concluded.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
