The Digital System being implemented in the Ethiopian capital is modernizing the city and streamlining public Service-delivery.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Modern digital systems that have benefited residents of Addis Ababa and are accelerating the city\u2019s journey toward becoming a smart city are being widely implemented.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Significant attention is being given to large-scale infrastructure development and human-resource development in order to sustainably address the limitations in service delivery that have long been a concern for the city\u2019s residents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Alongside the urban development witnessed in Addis Ababa in recent times, a range of forward-looking, people-centered initiatives aimed at improving the well-being of residents have also been carried out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

These initiatives and activities implemented in the city are modernizing Addis Ababa and streamlining the delivery of public services, while also bringing numerous benefits to residents by improving their day-to-day lives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

CCTV cameras installed along major roads have played a significant role in preventing crimes, apprehending criminals, and facilitating the flow of traffic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A smart city involves the extensive use of information technology to improve urban services and citizens\u2019 living conditions, including the digitization of service delivery.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In this regard, paperless healthcare services, digital identification services, the digitization of advertising billboards, traffic management, and the integration of institutional information systems are among the major digital systems that have been implemented in the capital.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The objective of a smart city is to establish an integrated, fast, inclusive, and efficient system of government that provides high-quality public services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The previous service-delivery system is said to have subjected residents to unnecessary inconvenience, created opportunities for malpractice, lacked transparency, and even posed challenges to the city\u2019s development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

By providing services that are fast, efficient, high-quality, and transparent, a smart city also helps increase residents\u2019 trust in government.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To this end, the Addis Ababa City Administration has opened a new historic chapter by implementing digital systems across all sub-cities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The sub-cities have moved away from paper-based procedures and processes that subjected service users to unnecessary inconvenience, transitioning instead to modern, paperless digital systems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Under the Smart City Initiative, the Addis Ababa City Administration\u2019s transition from paper-based services to digital services has enabled residents to access services quickly and conveniently from wherever they are, without having to endure unnecessary inconvenience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
