What makes this mountain different from others is its remarkable 1,554 giant stairways that lead visitors to its Peak.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Standing at 3,058 meters above sea level, Hambericho is the first major mountain in the Central Ethiopia Region. The area has become increasingly attractive to tourists thanks to its lush greenery, clean air, and breathtaking natural beauty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In an interview with Addis Media Network Digital, Muluken Desta, Head of the Hambericho Eco-Tourism Site and a local guide, explained that extensive research was carried out by scholars before the site was officially opened to tourism.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"682\" src=\"https:\/\/www.amn.gov.et\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2025\/12\/591448676_878060494590739_2482998105807144522_n-1024x682.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-625\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.amn.gov.et\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2025\/12\/591448676_878060494590739_2482998105807144522_n-1024x682.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.amn.gov.et\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2025\/12\/591448676_878060494590739_2482998105807144522_n-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.amn.gov.et\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2025\/12\/591448676_878060494590739_2482998105807144522_n-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.amn.gov.et\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2025\/12\/591448676_878060494590739_2482998105807144522_n.jpg 1280w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The name \u201cHambericho 777\u201d originates from its connection to seven chain mountains surrounding the area. These peaks contain a rich mix of historical sites, natural springs, scenic valleys, and cultural landmarks. In total, the site is encircled by 33 small hills and 7 chain mountains, offering visitors unforgettable scenery.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Following a visit by Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed (PhD), several development projects were launched, significantly improving accessibility to the site. The 1,554 stairways now provide tourists with both a physical challenge and panoramic views. A traditional meeting hall accommodating over 300 people has also been constructed near the destination.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It is reported that after the infrastructure developments, tourist flow to the area has tripled. Since the launch of the Hambericho 777 project, visitor numbers have increased sharply 500 to 600 visitors on weekends, and 250 to 300 on weekdays.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"682\" src=\"https:\/\/www.amn.gov.et\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2025\/12\/593607231_878060447924077_5015529988728112605_n-1024x682.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-626\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.amn.gov.et\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2025\/12\/593607231_878060447924077_5015529988728112605_n-1024x682.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.amn.gov.et\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2025\/12\/593607231_878060447924077_5015529988728112605_n-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.amn.gov.et\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2025\/12\/593607231_878060447924077_5015529988728112605_n-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.amn.gov.et\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2025\/12\/593607231_878060447924077_5015529988728112605_n.jpg 1280w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Hambericho Mountain is now being developed under a community-based tourism model, ensuring tangible benefits for the local community.
