{"id":938,"date":"2025-12-26T11:48:14","date_gmt":"2025-12-26T11:48:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.amn.gov.et\/en\/?p=938"},"modified":"2025-12-26T11:48:17","modified_gmt":"2025-12-26T11:48:17","slug":"digital-ethiopia-2030-turns-addis-ababas-smart-city-plan-into-reality","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.amn.gov.et\/en\/digital-ethiopia-2030-turns-addis-ababas-smart-city-plan-into-reality\/","title":{"rendered":"Digital Ethiopia 2030 Turns Addis Ababa\u2019s Smart City Plan into Reality"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><a><\/a>AMN Plus -December 26\/2025<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed (PhD) has officially launched the Digital Ethiopia 2030 Strategy, a national initiative aimed at strengthening Ethiopia\u2019s technological capacity and enabling the country to harness the benefits of the digital economy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The strategy is playing a pivotal role in transforming the Addis Ababa Smart City initiative from vision into reality.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to the Addis Ababa City Innovation and Technology Development Bureau, the Digital Ethiopia 2030 Strategy is being implemented in close coordination with the capital\u2019s Smart City development plan. This integrated approach is designed to ensure efficient and sustainable digital transformation across the city.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"803\" src=\"https:\/\/www.amn.gov.et\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2025\/12\/603807527_896707159392739_4263298431166258987_n-1024x803.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-940\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.amn.gov.et\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2025\/12\/603807527_896707159392739_4263298431166258987_n-1024x803.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.amn.gov.et\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2025\/12\/603807527_896707159392739_4263298431166258987_n-300x235.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.amn.gov.et\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2025\/12\/603807527_896707159392739_4263298431166258987_n-768x602.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.amn.gov.et\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2025\/12\/603807527_896707159392739_4263298431166258987_n.jpg 1280w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>In an interview with AMN Digital, Yonas Demsew, Head of the ICT Standards Preparation and Regulatory Team, explained that the strategy focuses on expanding access to digital infrastructure, promoting citizens\u2019 participation in the digital economy, and strengthening modern interaction systems between the government and the public.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Yonas noted that the modern electric poles installed under Addis Ababa\u2019s corridor development project now integrate internet connectivity, CCTV surveillance, and 5G network services into a unified infrastructure system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Yonas added that the expansion of Mesob one-stop service centers and the introduction of modern digital payment systems are further accelerating the city\u2019s progress toward becoming a Smart City.
