In an interview focused on Ethiopia’s digital technology drive, Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed underscored that digital technology is one of the five key pillars of the nation’s economy.
The Prime Minister emphasized that countries lacking strong digital infrastructure cannot ensure quality services in critical sectors such as education, healthcare, agriculture, and industry.
Speaking on the vital role of digital technology in national development, Prime Minister Abiy said meaningful development is unimaginable without the effective use of technology.
The Prime Minister further noted that technology plays a crucial role in enhancing industrial productivity and accelerating economic transformation.
“For instance, four to five years ago, there was no 4G network in Ethiopia. Today, more than one thousand towns have access to 4G services,” Prime Minister Abiy stated.
The Prime Minister reaffirmed that investing in digital infrastructure is essential for building a competitive and capable human resource base in Ethiopia’s growing digital sector.
The Prime Minister added that the ongoing expansion of telecom infrastructure across the country is bringing transformative change and reshaping many aspects of life nationwide.
