The Minister of Finance, Ahmed Shide arrived in Mogadishu today to participate in the 27th Ministerial Roundtable of the Horn of Africa Initiative.
The Minister of Finance, Ahmed Shide held a productive bilateral meeting with Myriam Ferran, Deputy Director-General for International Partnerships at the European Commission.
The Minister expressed appreciation for the EU’s continued support, including the recent support to the Renewable, Integrated and Sustainable Energy and Digitalization (RISED) program with other partners such as French Development Agency and European Investment Bank.
During the meeting, the Minister and the Deputy Director General discussed on enhancing cooperation and agreed on EU’s commitment to finance Ethiopia-Djibouti transport corridor, as part of the Horn of Africa Initiative. In addition Understanding was reached to strengthen the support for macroeconomic reform programs.
The Horn of Africa Ministerial will focus on accelerating access to reliable and affordable electricity by advancing financing of transmission and regional energy connection as to finance Minister of Ethiopia reported it.
