Addis Ababa, World Bank Agree to Strengthen Partnership on Transport Modernization and E-Mobility: Mayor

Addis Ababa Mayor Adanech Abiebie said she held productive discussions with World Bank Country Director for Ethiopia, Eritrea, Sudan, and South Sudan, Maryam Salim, on strengthening cooperation to improve the Ethiopian capital’s transport services.

In a message shared on her official social media platform, the mayor said the two sides agreed to work in partnership with the World Bank to reinforce the city administration’s ongoing efforts to modernize the transport sector, particularly by expanding access to e-mobility.

She added that the collaboration will also focus on supporting private sector actors engaged in the e-mobility industry.

According to the mayor, the discussions resulted in a shared understanding to deepen cooperation aimed at advancing Addis Ababa’s sustainable transport initiatives.

Mayor Adanech also expressed her sincere appreciation to Maryam Salim and her technical team, thanking them on behalf of herself and the people of Addis Ababa for their engagement and support.
