Addis Ababa, the common home of Africans, is currently hosting the 49th Ordinary Session of the African Union Executive Council in a grand manner.
The diplomatic capital, Addis Ababa, has welcomed her African brothers and sisters with the traditional African spirit of love and respect, displaying an attractive appearance enhanced by the unique beauty created through a new chapter of development.
The completed corridor and riverside development projects have given the city a new life, vibrancy, and grandeur.
The corridor development projects are transforming the Ethiopian capital into a true metropolitan city of Africa by creating wide and clean pedestrian walkways, spacious roads, street lighting, and beautiful public squares.
The riverbanks that were previously neglected have now been transformed into attractive green spaces, public recreational areas, and centers of beauty. This fundamental transformation carried out in the capital has significantly enhanced Addis Ababa’s capacity to host major international and continental conferences with greater efficiency.
Furthermore, the modern infrastructure expansion has created a safe, clean, and modern urban environment for diplomats and visitors. It also provides participants of the conference with an opportunity to witness firsthand Africa’s aspirations for development and modernization in Addis Ababa.
The comfortable hospitality that African brothers and sisters are receiving upon their arrival, in hotels, and at conference centers is strengthening the spirit of African brotherhood. Addis Ababa is demonstrating in practice that it is the leading Pan-Africanist capital.
The current Chairperson of the African Union Executive Council and Burundi’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Édouard Bizimana, stated that Addis Ababa is a living symbol of Pan-Africanism.
In his opening speech at the 49th Ordinary Session of the Executive Council, the Chairperson expressed his gratitude to Ethiopia, which is hosting the meeting, and to the Ethiopian people for their warm welcome.
The transformation of Addis Ababa is not only a source of pride and a symbol for Ethiopia but also for the entire African continent. The riverside and corridor development projects being carried out through indigenous knowledge serve as an exemplary model of how Africans can renew and modernize their cities using their own capacity and vision.
