Addis Ababa’s ongoing corridor development projects are giving a fresh and vibrant face to this year’s Timket (Epiphany) celebrations, transforming the city into a more beautiful, organized, and visitor-friendly capital.
Major corridors such as Piassa, Arat Kilo, Mexico, Kazanchis, and the riverside developments have been upgraded with wide pedestrian walkways, modern street lighting, landscaped green areas, and restored heritage buildings. These improvements have not only enhanced mobility and safety but have also created scenic public spaces that are ideal for large cultural and religious gatherings in Addis Ababa.
As thousands of religious followers and visitors gather to celebrate Timket, one of Ethiopia’s most important religious and cultural festivals, the improved corridors are playing a vital role in easing movement, managing crowds, and offering a dignified setting for the colorful processions of Tabots, clergy, and choirs.

Addis Ababa’s riverside developments, in particular, have become attractive gathering points, providing open spaces where residents and tourists can comfortably observe the spiritual rituals and enjoy the festive atmosphere.
Addis Ababa’s corridor development program is not only about infrastructure but also about preserving Addis Ababa’s identity while making it a modern, livable, and tourism-friendly city.
During Timket, this vision is clearly on display, as the capital showcases both its rich heritage and its urban transformation.
With improved roads, cleaner surroundings, enhanced lighting, and inviting public spaces, Addis Ababa is offering a safer, more comfortable, and more memorable Timket experience for residents, pilgrims, and international tourists alike, further strengthening its image as one of Africa’s emerging cultural and tourism hubs.
