Ethiopia Hosts Kenyan Joint Command and Staff College Delegation for Strategic Study Visit

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ethiopia today hosted a delegation from the Joint Command and Staff College (JCSC) of the Republic of Kenya as part of a strategic study visit.

The visit forms part of the College’s broader academic program aimed at equipping senior military officers and students with a deeper understanding of evolving regional dynamics and the diplomatic frameworks that underpin peace and security.

On the occasion, Ambassador Zerihun Abebe, Director General of African Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, delivered a comprehensive briefing on Ethiopia’s pivotal role in the Horn of Africa. His presentation highlighted the country’s contributions to the promotion of regional peace and security, counter-terrorism efforts, maritime security in the Red Sea, as well as on the Nile and other strategic rivers.

Discussions further explored avenues through which Ethiopia and other countries in the region could leverage their diplomatic engagement within the African Union (AU) and the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) to mediate conflicts and trengthen peacekeeping efforts.

The delegation comprises senior officers and students from a diverse group of countries, including Kenya, Uganda, Zambia, Sierra Leone, Burundi, Rwanda, Malawi, and Tanzania.
