Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed a joint session of Ethiopia’s House of People’s Representatives and the House of Federation this morning, highlighting the deep historical and cultural ties between Ethiopia and India.
In his address, PM Modi described Ethiopia as one of the world’s oldest civilizations and “the land where the Blue Nile begins its long journey to give life to millions.”
Prime Minister Modi praised the country’s rich diversity, noting that Ethiopia is a land of many cultures and faiths living together in peace.

“Our two nations are linked by the Indian Ocean, but we are also connected by our shared history, common values, and a shared vision for the future,” PM Modi said, underscoring the strong bond between the two countries.
Speaking on bilateral cooperation, Prime Minister Modi said India is proud to be a partner in Ethiopia’s development journey. Modi noted that India’s cooperation with Ethiopia spans key sectors, including agriculture, education, health, and technology.
The Indian Prime Minister also emphasized that Ethiopia and India are among the world’s fastest-growing economies, adding that both nations have much to learn from each other as they pursue inclusive growth and sustainable development.
