The Minister of Innovation and Technology, Belete Molla(PhD), received the Deputy Secretary-General of the World Internet Conference Lian Hao, at his office, where they held discussions regarding the World Internet Conference.
The discussion focused on preparatory activities and processes that will enable the successful hosting of the World Internet Conference, which is scheduled to take place in Addis Ababa in the month of September, 2026.
Belete Molla stated that Ethiopia has extensive experience in successfully hosting numerous international events, and emphasized that the country will leverage this additional opportunity to ensure all necessary preparations are made for the success of the conference.
The Minister also noted that the Ministry will work in close coordination with all relevant stakeholders to ensure the success of the conference, highlighting the significant benefits the platform offers in positioning Ethiopia as a preferred destination for conference tourism.
The Deputy Secretary-General of the World Internet Conference, Lian Hao, stated that technical preparations required to host the conference in Addis Ababa have already begun, and that in the near future, focused and collaborative work will continue on the preparatory arrangements.
The conference, which has been held annually in China since 2012, is a major global platform that includes more than 200 large international technology companies as members, such as IBM, NVIDIA, Alibaba, Huawei, BeiDou, Google, Macdonald, Coca-Cola, to mention only a few.
As the forum brings together global industry leaders, scholars, and high-level government officials, it is expected to open new opportunities for technology transfer and expanded investment in Ethiopia as to the Minister of Innovation and Technology reported it
