Addis Ababa is capturing global attention as rapid urban development transforms the African diplomatic capital into a modern and vibrant city admired by international visitors
The African diplomatic capital, Addis Ababa, continues to attract the attention of international visitors with its rapid and comprehensive urban development in recent years.
The city is giving new meaning to its nickname, “the Heart of Africa,” by blending its long-standing diplomatic status with modern infrastructure, green spaces, and striking urban beauty.
According to several foreign visitors who have recently toured the city, Addis Ababa has evolved into an attractive destination where clean, wide and modern road networks meet beautiful buildings showcasing impressive engineering and architectural design.
Among the visitors sharing the city’s transformation with the world is renowned Cameroonian blogger Atem Harris.

During his stay in Addis Ababa, Harris toured major landmarks including the Adwa Victory Memorial, the African Union Hall, and the city’s newly modernized streets.
He was particularly impressed by the transformation he witnessed at Friendship Park, describing it as “the real beauty of Ethiopia.”
The conversion of what was once a garbage dump into a vibrant recreational park has surprised both residents and visitors alike. At night, the park’s water and light show creates a unique atmosphere that adds to the city’s charm.
Visitors have also highlighted the city’s safety and the warm hospitality of its residents, describing them as key factors that make Addis Ababa an appealing destination.
Harris noted that mega projects such as Friendship Park are powerful examples of Ethiopia’s forward-looking development and commitment to green urban growth.
Harris added that Addis Ababa will continue to stand as a symbol of beauty, peace and modernity in Africa, today and in the future.
