“Happy Eid al-Fitr,” he said.
In a message shared on his official social media page, the Prime Minister noted that Eid al-Fitr is regarded as a blessed holiday among Muslims.
The Prime Minister highlighted that Ramadan is a holy month during which Allah’s mercy is revealed and precious blessings are bestowed upon humanity.
Abiy emphasized that those who receive the blessing from the Creator on Eid are individuals who devoted themselves to fasting and prayer throughout Ramadan, performed good deeds, gave zakat to the poor and needy, refrained from wrongdoing, and embraced forgiveness. Such individuals, he said, celebrate the holiday filled with joy and spiritual strength.
In his message, the Prime Minister also touched on national matters, stating that the upcoming 7th general elections represent a gateway to Ethiopia’s democratic success and a brighter future.

“As a nation, we have long aspired for democracy. Our journey has not been easy,” he said. “Yet, just as Ramadan teaches us that blessings follow trials and joy follows hardship, we must remain steadfast.”
The Prime Minister underscored that building a legitimate and democratic government depends on active public participation in elections.
“A strong democracy cannot be built on weak participation,” he noted, adding that democracy requires peace, cooperation, respect for rules, and constructive engagement—not conflict or disorder.
The Prime Minister further stressed that Ethiopia’s progress and prosperity depend on the efforts of its citizens.
“It is our collective responsibility to make the necessary sacrifices for our country to thrive. The fruits of our hard work will be passed down from generation to generation,” he stated.
