Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed welcomed African and international leaders to Ethiopia, underscoring Africaβs historic legacy and its bold vision for the future.
He stressed that the continentβs greatest asset lies not only in its natural resources, but in its ability to build strong institutions, drive innovation, and govern for sustainable development. Highlighting progress in water management, energy, food security, and industrialisation, he cited the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam, wheat self-sufficiency, and expanding industrial investments as examples of African-led solutions advancing shared prosperity.
Abiy noted Africaβs strong growth trajectory, Ethiopiaβs projected 10.2% growth, and the importance of investing in youth, health, and education to harness the continentβs demographic advantage.
The Prime Minister also emphasised climate leadership through the Green Legacy Initiative, digital transformation under Digital Ethiopia 2030, advances in artificial intelligence, and expanded continental connectivity.
The Prime Minister concluded with a call for a confident, united African Union capable of shaping global agendas and ensuring development delivers resilience, opportunity, and dignity for all Africans.
