As its landscape and appearance continue to evolve, Addis Ababa has increasingly become a city whose story of cleanliness and modernization is being recognized on various platforms. Since the national reform, the city has continued to receive international acclaim and prestigious recognition.

Through its corridor development projects, the city has opened wider spaces for pedestrians and cyclists, expanded its green coverage, and improved traffic flow, earning recognition among Africa’s leading smart cities.

The transformation of neighborhoods in the heart of the city and the development of riversides into attractive public recreational spaces have also contributed to positioning Addis Ababa on the international stage as a model of cleanliness and climate action.

Another important chapter in this remarkable journey is the care and support extended to children—the future generation of the country.

For her work in advancing the Early Childhood Development framework, Addis Ababa Mayor Adanech Abiebie was recognized as an “Early Childhood Development Champion” by the international Act for Early Years initiative.

This recognition has further strengthened Addis Ababa’s position as a city working to create brighter opportunities for Africa’s children and a more promising future.

Over the past years, from corridor development to smart transportation, from clean streets to childcare and green development, the coordinated and determined efforts undertaken by the city have continued to inspire hope among citizens and provide valuable experience for other countries.

Today, Addis Ababa is not only transforming itself but also writing a new chapter in the history of urban transformation across Africa.
