Addressing the Second Africa–Italy Summit in Addis Ababa, Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed underscored that Italy has articulated a forward-looking vision to serve as a bridge between Europe and Africa.
Through the Mattei Plan, priorities such as energy security, sustainable development, migration management, and human capital development are integrated into a unified strategy grounded in partnership and mutual benefit. Ethiopia, the Prime Minister noted, is proud to be part of this plan.
Reflecting on Ethiopia’s participation in the first Africa–Italy Summit held in Rome in 2024, the Prime Minister emphasized that the continued engagement between the two nations demonstrates a shared commitment to move beyond words.
As host of this year’s summit in Addis Ababa, he reaffirmed Ethiopia’s readiness to work closely with Italy, African countries, and all partners dedicated to transforming strategic dialogue into meaningful development outcomes that improve lives.
Highlighting Ethiopia’s growing global role, Prime Minister Abiy stated that the country is increasingly connecting Africa with the rest of the world. As the continent’s diplomatic capital, a rising hub for aviation and logistics, and a host of major international conferences, Ethiopia is linking regions, markets, and ideas, amplifying Africa’s voice in global affairs.
