Bereket Sisay, Coordinator of Pulse of Africa, stated that the main objective of the African Social Media Influencers Summit (ASMIS) is to create strong partnerships among influencers and establish a common voice on African issues.

He noted that the summit will provide an opportunity to advance a shared African agenda, enabling participants to collectively raise their voices on matters affecting the continent.

Organized by Pulse of Africa (POA) in partnership with AGA Technology Enterprises under the theme “Influencers for a Better Africa,” the inaugural ASMIS 2026 will take place in Addis Ababa from May 7–8, 2026, at the Adwa Victory Memorial.

The summit aims to empower responsible social media influencers, strengthen the digital economy, promote collaboration, and support the establishment of a digital hub. It will also provide an opportunity for Ethiopian influencers to enhance the country’s image and strengthen cooperation.

Bereket Sisay explained that Pulse of Africa is a pan-African media outlet established to reshape the distorted narrative about the continent.

He reiterated that the gathering seeks to foster strong partnerships among influencers and create a platform for developing a unified voice on African issues.

Bereket also noted that African Union’s Agenda 2063 is a 50-year strategic framework (2013–2063) designed to transform Africa. He emphasized that the summit will create an opportunity for influencers to work together, build mutual understanding, and contribute to achieving the goals of the agenda.

Furthermore, he highlighted that digital media is a powerful tool for economic mobilization and stressed the need for influencers to use social platforms in ways that benefit society.

For his part, Gemeda Olana, CEO of AGA Technology Enterprises, said the summit is a crucial platform for enhancing the image of Ethiopia and Africa. He added that participants will be able to take clear positions on content creation, African narrative building, and the goals of Agenda 2063.

He also confirmed that influencers invited from various African countries were selected based on their social media reach and their contributions to promoting a positive image of Africa.
