Briefing the media, Chief Commissioner of the Ethiopian National Dialogue Commission, Prof. Mesfin Araya, announced that the ideas and recommendations generated by the 10-member breakout groups have been consolidated and are now being presented to the larger 50-member discussion groups through their respective chairpersons and rapporteurs for further deliberation.
Providing an update on the progress of the National Dialogue Conference, Prof. Mesfin said the breakout groups have completed their initial discussions, where participants exchanged diverse views, ideas, and perspectives on key national issues. These discussions have since been carefully organized into consolidated reports.
He noted that each breakout group’s chairperson and rapporteur is now presenting these reports to their respective 50-member discussion groups, allowing participants to examine the proposals in greater depth and build broader consensus.
According to the Chief Commissioner, the process is designed to ensure that the concerns, aspirations, and recommendations raised within each 10-member group are preserved in a coherent and comprehensive manner, rather than being fragmented. This enables them to serve as meaningful and well-structured contributions to the wider discussions.
Prof. Mesfin also recalled that participants in each 50-member discussion group were initially divided into 10-member breakout groups to encourage inclusive, focused, and productive deliberations during the National Dialogue Conference.
The Commissioner said this structured approach has helped participants engage more effectively while ensuring that every voice has the opportunity to be heard.
