Adanech Abiebie, Mayor of Addis Ababa, announced this evening through her official social media platforms the handover of newly built residential houses to beneficiaries in the Begonet neighborhood redevelopment project.
According to the Mayor, a five-story building comprising 44 residential units and shops was handed over today to residents in the No. 3 Begonet Village located in the Gebs Tera area of Addis Ketema Sub-City.

Mayor Adanech stated that Gebs Tera had previously been one of the city’s most challenging residential areas, characterized by old and dilapidated housing, frequent fire incidents, and inadequate living conditions that made daily life difficult for residents, particularly vulnerable mothers who struggled to access proper cooking and sanitation facilities.

She noted that, including the newly inaugurated structure, five buildings containing a total of 377 residential units have now been constructed in the neighborhood.
The redevelopment, she said, has enabled residents to move from unsafe and degrading living conditions into clean, modern, and dignified homes built to proper standards.

The Mayor also extended gratitude to leaders at all levels for their supervision and support of the Begonet Village redevelopment project, while expressing special appreciation to investors who contributed financial support toward the construction efforts.
