The Election Command Post of the Addis Ababa Police Commission has announced that the voting process for Ethiopia’s 7th General Election concluded peacefully, marking a significant milestone in the country’s democratic journey.

According to the Command Post, voting continued until 1:00 a.m. local time, ensuring that all eligible voters who had queued before the official closing time were given the opportunity to cast their ballots. The ballot-casting process at polling stations across Addis Ababa was completed in a calm, orderly, and peaceful atmosphere.

The Command Post reported that no election-related criminal incidents were recorded throughout Election Day or during the night of May 31. However, it noted with regret that two individuals lost their lives in separate traffic accidents.

Commending the collective efforts that contributed to the successful conduct of the election, the Command Post expressed its appreciation to voters, election officials, candidates, observers, security personnel, and all stakeholders who responsibly fulfilled their respective duties. Their commitment, cooperation, and dedication played a vital role in ensuring a peaceful and orderly electoral process.

As the vote-counting process continues, the Command Post called upon all stakeholders to maintain their constructive engagement and uphold their responsibilities to ensure that the post-election phase proceeds smoothly, peacefully, and in accordance with the law.
