In a message shared on her official social media page, Addis Ababa Mayor Adanech Abiebie announced that construction of the “Arada Begonet Village” project has officially commenced behind the Mayor’s Office, just one day after the Prosperity Party was entrusted by the Ethiopian people with a renewed five-year mandate to continue leading the country.

The Mayor stated that the initiative forms part of the city’s winter volunteer service campaign, which aims to transform severely deteriorated residential areas into clean, attractive, and livable communities.

“As part of the winter volunteer campaign, we have planned to construct 2,500 housing units,” Mayor Adanech noted.

According to the Mayor, the Arada Begonet Village project launched today includes the construction of eight nine-story residential buildings and two four-story commercial centers. The project is designed to replace aging and dilapidated homes while creating a modern neighborhood equipped with quality housing, shared public facilities, green spaces, and recreational areas where children can play safely and freely.

“Overall, the project is intended to create a modern lifestyle that provides dignity, comfort, and convenience for residents while enhancing the beauty and livability of our city,” the Mayor emphasized.

Mayor Adanech further explained that the winter volunteer campaign extends beyond housing development. Planned activities include neighborhood clean-up programs, flood prevention works, meal support for vulnerable residents, blood donation campaigns, tree planting under the Green Legacy Initiative, tutorial and support classes for students, free medical services, traffic management improvements, and various initiatives aimed at making Addis Ababa cleaner, greener, and more livable.

“What we are building is not only physical infrastructure; we are building trust, resilience, solidarity, brotherhood and sisterhood, dignity, and, above all, Ethiopia’s path toward prosperity,” the Mayor reaffirmed.

The Mayor also expressed her gratitude to the city’s business community for their continued support of development initiatives.

“To the business community of our city, I would like to extend my heartfelt appreciation for your positive and prompt responses whenever we call upon you to support projects that improve the lives of our people,” she said.

Mayor Adanech acknowledged the organizations and individuals who have committed resources to the construction of the Arada Begonet Village. MIDROC Investment Group, Ethiopian Electric Utility, Belayneh Kinde Group, and Yadeta Junedin have each pledged to construct one nine-story residential building.

In addition, TNT Construction, Grand Legacy House, ET Online College, Abiy Masresha, Dema Real Estate, Temir Real Estate, Snap Trading, Gift Real Estate, Mohammed Adnan, and Amir Bedru have joined the initiative and pledged their support.

“On behalf of the residents of our city and myself, I extend my deepest appreciation to all of you for standing with us in this important endeavor,” Mayor Adanech said.
