PM Urges Arba Minch Residents, Youth to Boost City’s Tourism Appeal

Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed has called on the residents and youth of Arba Minch to play an active role in ensuring that visitors continue to return to the city, reinforcing its status as one of Ethiopia’s premier tourism destinations.

Speaking during the inauguration of newly completed tourism attraction sites in Arba Minch, the Prime Minister emphasized that the long-term success of the city’s tourism sector depends not only on its breathtaking natural beauty and modern infrastructure but also on the warmth, hospitality, and commitment of its people.

He urged residents to welcome every visitor with respect, kindness, and genuine hospitality, noting that tourists who come to experience Arba Minch’s unique natural attractions should be encouraged to extend their stay and fully explore what the city and its surroundings have to offer.

Describing Arba Minch and its surrounding areas as places renowned for peace, love, and security, where people can move about freely even at night, Prime Minister Abiy underscored that preserving peace remains fundamental to the continued growth of the tourism industry.

He added that tourists should not simply spend the night in Arba Minch but should feel safe and inspired to visit its attractions, engage with the local community, and spend more time and resources in the area, thereby creating greater economic opportunities for local residents.

In his concluding remarks, Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed called on the youth and residents of Arba Minch to extend a warm and joyful welcome to every visitor, ensuring that tourists feel safe, respected, and at home.
