Russian Ambassador to Ethiopia Evgeny Terekhin said Ethiopia and Russia are working to further strengthen their cooperation in technology, research, and artificial intelligence. Ambassador Terekhin made the remarks during his visit to the Ethiopian Artificial Intelligence Institute, where he was briefed on the Institute’s activities and its role in advancing Ethiopia’s digital transformation.
Director General of the Institute, Worku Gachena (PhD), highlighted the Institute’s research and development initiatives, noting that its work is contributing to progress in Ethiopia’s priority social and economic sectors.
Ambassador Terekhin, meanwhile, emphasized the strong and longstanding bilateral ties between Ethiopia and Russia. He said the two countries are committed to expanding cooperation in research and development, human capital development, and technology transfer.
The Ambassador further noted that closer collaboration in these areas could create new opportunities for innovation and technological advancement in both countries.
The Institute said the growing partnership also aligns with broader efforts among BRICS member states to harness artificial intelligence for inclusive growth, innovation, and shared development, according to Ethiopia’s Artificial Intelligence institute.
