Addis Ababa City is realizing its goal of becoming a “Smart City” by implementing new technology-supported infrastructure developments. In particular, modern parking facilities, which have brought significant changes to traffic management and the city’s urban infrastructure, have become key indicators of the capital’s modernization and digital transformation.
The newly constructed parking facilities in the capital are fully equipped with electronic technology.
They feature mobile applications that help drivers save time spent searching for parking spaces, automated payment systems, and modern parking-space monitoring equipment.
This system reduces human intervention and enables the provision of fast, fair, and secure services. It is also helping address the parking shortage that previously existed, thereby facilitating business and economic activities in the capital.
In addition, these parking buildings, designed according to modern architectural standards, are helping prevent random roadside parking while enhancing the city’s beauty and overall appearance.

Modern parking facilities equipped with electric vehicle charging stations are also making a significant contribution to environmental protection by reducing vehicle carbon emissions and fuel consumption.
The city administration’s strong partnership with the private sector, along with the cooperation of drivers, has played a significant role in bringing about this positive change.
Going forward, the city administration is expected to further modernize the traffic management system and strengthen initiatives aimed at improving and simplifying the daily lives of residents.
