International experts have recognized that Ethiopia’s efforts to improve citizens’ lives by establishing world-class health institutions are yielding tangible results. They also noted that Addis Ababa is making significant progress toward realizing its vision of becoming an international health tourism destination.

They stated that Ethiopia’s efforts to rapidly establish new health institutions, expand access to quality healthcare, and develop a skilled and reliable health workforce demonstrate the country’s broader and comprehensive development journey.

As the common home of Africans and a major diplomatic hub, Addis Ababa has undertaken extensive initiatives to advance the national vision of positioning the city as a leading health tourism destination.

Dr. Henry Homonda, Director of the Africa Constituency, who spoke with AMN, said that the city is achieving tangible results in the health sector by introducing modern systems and expanding infrastructure.

He said that the renovated and newly constructed facilities are also helping to realize the capital’s vision of becoming a health tourism destination.

Meanwhile, Kenyan Mary Modani stated that, as part of the urbanization process, efforts have begun to develop efficient infrastructure, improve services, and, alongside these efforts, build a healthier generation.

Kenya’s Director of Health, Dr. Patrick Amo, for his part, noted that the capital’s reform initiatives and its vision for health tourism could serve as a valuable experience and model for Africans.

The 76th Session of the World Health Organization Regional Committee for Africa is continuing its discussions on the matter in order to strengthen and expand these achievements in the health sector.
