“Tsimdo” is an alliance of groups with differing positions on objectives, principles of struggle, and the unity of Ethiopia. It is a gathering of collaborators led and supported by Ethiopia’s historical enemies. Its activities demonstrate that it is a destructive force that seeks to destabilize the Ethiopia and make appeals to foreign powers as a strategy, thereby disrupting peace in the country.
Furthermore, this anti-peace coalition, formed solely by groups that disagree with one another and are driven by a thirst for power, is acting as a destructive force that is subjecting the people to hunger and displacement.
What Ethiopia needs now is not a cycle of destruction brought about by the barrel of a gun, but a path of development, peace, and dialogue.
Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed (PhD) previously stated, “A farmer does not abandon his field just because the birds are chirping.” The same principle applies to the ruling party, which remains focused on fulfilling its responsibilities rather than being distracted by the frivolous actions and propaganda disseminated by groups working against the interests of the country.
The Prime Minister described the voices being heard at present as being like the chirping of birds, adding that “we have weathered the rain and the thunder.” It signifies that the government has overcome highly challenging period.
He further stated that “we would not expend our energy on anything beyond treating any provocations as nothing more than the chirping of birds,” and warned the groups pursuing this destructive path to refrain from such actions.
He said, “Let us make this absolutely clear: do not provoke Ethiopia. Ethiopia seeks development, prosperity, and progress. If you continue to engage in actions from any direction that undermine and weaken our country, we will stand firm and use every means at our disposal—even at the ultimate sacrifice of our lives to defend and safeguard Ethiopia.”
The destructive Ts’imdo coalition is an anti-peace movement that seeks to obstruct the consolidation of peace in Ethiopia and prevent the people from moving beyond conflict toward development. Therefore, prioritizing Ethiopia’s peace and unity should be a historic responsibility shared by all.
Nevertheless, everyone should understand that Ethiopia’s prosperity will not be derailed by the failed propaganda of destructive groups that are desperately striving to create a storm in a teacup.
