Mayor Adanech Hails Joyful, Vibrant Irreecha Conclusion, With Traditions Preserved

In a statement issued following the conclusion of the Horo Finfinnee Irreecha Festival, Addis Ababa Mayor Adanech Abiebie said the annual thanksgiving celebration was successfully held in a manner that preserved its cultural values and traditions and concluded peacefully with joy and vibrancy.

The Mayor said that Irreecha is a great festival and a living expression of gratitude, peace, love, and unity. Beyond its cultural significance, she described it as a major celebration where people from different backgrounds come together in love and brotherhood, and where the values of togetherness and tolerance are prominently showcased.

Putting the values of Irreecha into practice, we should coordinate our efforts, strengthen our unity, and work together for peace in Ethiopia, national consensus, and comprehensive prosperity, Mayor Adanech Abiebie said.

She also extended her heartfelt gratitude, to everyone who contributed to the peaceful and successful conclusion of the festival. In particular, she thanked the residents of Addis Ababa who welcomed and hosted guests with Ethiopian courtesy and warmth, as well as the Abba Gadaas, Haadha Siinqees, Foollees, security personnel, and city leaders.

“Irreecha for national consensus! Irreecha for peace and unity!” she concluded.
