Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed (PhD) said Ethiopia’s foreign relations in the coming years will be geared toward enhancing the country’s global influence.
Abiy Ahmed (PhD) has been reappointed as Prime Minister of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia during the inaugural regular session of the House of Peoples’ Representatives for the first year of its seventh term.
Addressing the House, the Prime Minister highlighted the country’s current political and economic situation, as well as regional geopolitical developments.
In his remarks, Prime Minister Abiy expressed his appreciation to more than 54 million citizens who participated in the recent elections and demonstrated their commitment to the democratic process.
He noted that in any election, there may be winning and losing political parties, but in Ethiopia, there will be winning citizens rather than losing citizens.

The Prime Minister emphasized that the country can overcome the challenges it may face only when its people move forward together, hand in hand, as brothers and on an equal footing.
He noted that the geopolitical situation in the world and the region is undergoing significant changes.
Given Ethiopia’s strategic location at the crossroads of East Africa, the Red Sea and the Indian Ocean, he said preparing in advance to address the opportunities and challenges arising from this situation is a major responsibility entrusted to the current generation.
The Prime Minister further stated that Ethiopia’s foreign relations in the coming years will be oriented toward strengthening the country’s global influence.
