Former Chief of Staff of the Ethiopian National Defense Forces, General Samora Yenus, has stated that the illegal TPLF group, which is exposing the people of Tigray to renewed danger, cannot wage a war that produces results.
General Samora Yenus said that the conspiracy of an anti-people group, which is pursuing the agenda of Ethiopia’s historical enemies, had been foiled by the competence and effectiveness of the Ethiopian National Defense Forces.
General Samora noted that the TPLF, an illegal gathering of criminals, can envision nothing beyond war and lacks both a popular base and a meaningful objective.
He also stated that groups that cannot be reconciled with one another had formed an alliance known as “Tsimdo”. He said this alliance would not benefit the people of Tigray and would achieve no meaningful results.
He emphasized that the Ethiopian government seeks peace and development, whereas the illegal TPLF group has chosen a path of destruction.
General Samora said the activities of the group do not represent the agenda of the people of the Tigray Region, adding that the group had previously continued to destabilize the region.
Furthermore, he indicated that the group’s activities were being driven and supported by historical enemies seeking to destabilize Ethiopia.
General Samora also said that the group was acting to evade accountability and carry out the agendas of foreign countries. In particular, he stressed that the youth of Tigray should not become participants in a war without a clear purpose or instruments for forces seeking to destabilize Ethiopia.
General Samora Yunis stated that the illegal TPLF group stands in opposition to the interests of the people of Tigray, adding that the people’s aspirations are for peace, development, and progress.
He further remarked that the group lacked a mindset for change and that the fighting it had initiated to disrupt the people’s peace had demonstrated its defeat within a short period. He explained that this was evidence that the group could not stand up to the Ethiopian National Defense Forces.
Finally, the general called on the people of Tigray to bring their children home and urged young people participating in a war without purpose to return to their families.
