Addis Ababa is increasingly becoming convenient and suitable for sports and physical exercise for its residents.
Previously, the city’s roads were not comfortable for either pedestrians or vehicles. Pedestrians and vehicles were forced to share the same spaces, exposing the people for both frequent accidents and risks.
In particular, young people living in neighborhoods lacked alternative spaces for physical exercise and sporting activities, which forced them to use vehicle roads to play football and engage in other sports.
Today, however, this situation is completely changed due to the corridor development project and become a history for the city residents.
Taking this challenge into consideration, the Addis Ababa City Administration has carried out long-term development projects aimed at building a city that is friendly and suitable for children, youth, adolescents and residents.
As a result, the city’s roads have been constructed and redesigned in a way that is inclusive and suitable for all segments of society.
Currently, Addis Ababa’s beautiful streets are equipped with dedicated pedestrian walkways and bicycle lanes, decorated with green development projects and flowers, making them highly convenient for walking and for various sporting and physical activities.
On these newly developed and renovated streets, it has now become a common urban culture to see youth, children, adults, and the elderly people freely engaging in sports and physical activities.
