In a pioneering effort to promote knowledge sharing and collaboration in Ethiopia’s tourism sector, the Addis Ababa Tourism Commission, in collaboration with Abrehot Library, organized a panel discussion bringing together students and aviation professionals.
The event provided a platform for students from different educational institutions to engage with experienced Ethiopian Airlines pilots and discuss the tourism potential, challenges, and opportunities of Addis Ababa.
The panel aimed to strengthen the city’s tourism sector by connecting academic knowledge with practical experience. Pilots shared insights from their professional experiences, highlighting the important role aviation and transportation play in promoting tourism and connecting destinations. Students, meanwhile, contributed ideas shaped by their academic studies, research, and understanding of Ethiopia’s cultural and tourism resources. Beyond its role as a center for education and knowledge sharing, Abrehot Library is increasingly becoming one of Addis Ababa’s notable attractions, reflecting the city’s growing commitment to education, culture, and development.
Abrehot Library General Director Muluken Tariku said the initiative reflects a broader vision of building a vibrant tourism ecosystem in Addis Ababa—one that brings together education, professional experience, and community participation. He emphasized that sustained dialogue and cooperation among different sectors are essential to unlocking the city’s full tourism potential.
Ethiopian Airlines professionals also encouraged students to pursue their aspirations with determination, stressing that hard work and commitment can make even ambitious goals achievable. As Addis Ababa continues to strengthen its position as a leading tourism destination in Ethiopia, initiatives that bring students, professionals, and institutions together can play an important role in shaping a sustainable, inclusive, and culturally rich tourism sector.
