Addis Ababa has, in recent years, been transforming areas that were once a concern for local residents into spaces that preserve their natural features while serving as recreational destinations for current and future generations.
Bulbula Park is one such development and has been receiving considerable appreciation from Addis Ababa residents.
The site, which was previously an unsafe and poorly maintained woodland area inhabited by wild animals, has now been transformed into a beautiful recreational space where parents can bring their children to relax and enjoy themselves.
The improvements made at the park represent one of the notable changes brought to the lives of the local community.
The park has also created a conducive environment for children to have fun, refresh their minds and improve their ability to concentrate on their studies in the days that follow.
Young athletes who previously trained on dusty and potentially unhealthy fields told AMN that they are now happy to practice sports in a properly developed and improved facility.
Addis Ababa resident Hintsa Mesele said the area was previously covered by woodland and inhabited by wild animals, but has now been transformed into an excellent place where both adults and children can come and enjoy themselves.
He also noted that the government’s decision to give attention to the area and develop it was a significant achievement.
Another Addis Ababa resident, Ibrahim Ahmed, said it had previously been difficult to bring children to the area to play. He said he was pleasantly surprised to find that the park had become a beautiful recreational space for both adults and children, adding that they are very happy with the transformation.
Meanwhile, PKS Sports Team trainees Yonadab Gizaw and Yafet Sintayehu said the field where they previously trained was muddy and dusty, exposing them to health risks. They said the newly improved facility provides a much better environment that benefits both their health and their education.
They also expressed their ambition to make their country proud through football in the future.
