Ethiopia and Belarus have signed a bilateral Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at strengthening military cooperation between the two nations, marking a significant milestone in their defense relations.
The agreement was signed by Ethiopia’s Minister of Defense, Engineer Aisha Mohammed, and her Belarusian counterpart, Dmitry Pantus.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, Minister Aisha Mohammed stated that the MoU will make a substantial contribution to Ethiopia’s ongoing efforts to develop military technology and strengthen its defense industry, while also advancing the country’s goal of achieving self-reliance in military production.
Aisha further highlighted Ethiopia’s strategic position as a hub of Africa, noting that it creates opportunities for joint markets and mutual benefits for both countries.

The minister underlined that the MoU elevates bilateral cooperation to a higher level and carries significant strategic importance.
For his part, Belarusian Minister of Defense Dmitry Pantus noted that the agreement will further deepen the historic ties between Ethiopia and Belarus.
The minister also revealed that the two countries are already jointly implementing a number of projects, reflecting the growing depth of their cooperation.
It was also announced that the Belarusian Air Force will stage an aerial display during the 90th anniversary celebration of the Ethiopian Air Force, which begins tomorrow, and that members of the Belarusian delegation will attend the event.
The signing ceremony was held in the presence of senior military officials, as well as executives from Belarusian military companies and experts in the defense sector.
