Ethiopia and Pakistan Discuss Bilateral Cooperation on Social Security

The Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia (FDRE) and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan have explored various avenues to foster bilateral cooperation in the social security sector, aiming to eradicate poverty and improve living standards in both countries.

A comprehensive meeting to this end, took place in Islamabad on Thursday between Chalachew Eshetie, Chargé d’Affaires of the Ethiopian Embassy Islamabad, and Capt.Shaheen Khalid Butt-Senator, Managing Director of the Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal.

The two sides discussed matters of mutual interest ,and agreed to strengthen bilateral cooperation in social protection, poverty alleviation, and humanitarian relief.

Chalachew Eshetie briefed the Managing Director on the initiatives led by Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed(PhD) to support, empower, and uplift underprivileged, destitute, and elderly individuals in Ethiopia.

He highlighted potential areas for bilateral cooperation, including institutional linkages and knowledge exchange in social security and workers’ welfare.

The Managing Director appreciated the sustainable development in Ethiopia under the leadership of Prime Minister H.E. Dr. Abiy Ahmed, and expressed pleasure in working closely with the Ethiopian Embassy in Islamabad for the shared prosperity.
