Ethiopia Continues Engagement at the Ongoing World Economic Forum 2026

The Ethiopian delegation, led by Finance Minister Ahmed Shide, has continued its active engagement in the World Economic Forum 2026 in Davos, as the high-level gathering enters its fourth day.

Yesterday, at the “Shaping the Next Decade: Future of Global Health and Financing” roundtable discussion hosted by Bill Gates, Minister Shide contributed by showcasing Ethiopia’s progress in using digital technologies and AI to expand healthcare access for Ethiopians, especially in rural areas.

The Minister called for long-term partnerships and sustainable financing to strengthen AI and health systems, talent development, and digital infrastructure.

Minister Shide also spoke at the session “Economies Beyond the Shock Cycle. He outlined key pillars for building resilience, including fiscal sustainability, investment in infrastructure like regional energy grids, digital transformation for public service continuity, and sustained investment in human development and Economic diversification.

The Minister also emphasized the role of digital transformation and AI in improving government efficiency, creating jobs, and bridging the digital divide, making Ethiopia future-ready and globally competitive.

On the sidelines of the forum, Ahmed Shide has also held bilateral talks with global leaders, including Bill Gates and EU Commissioner for International Partnership, reinforcing the country’s commitment to innovation, partnerships, and sustainable development.

Ethiopia’s participation at WEF 2026 so far demonstrates its commitment to harnessing innovation, digital transformation, and strategic partnerships to advance sustainable and inclusive growth as to ministry of Finance Ethiopia reported it.
