Ethiopia’s Minister of Mines, Engineer Habtamu Tegegne, held talks with a U.S. delegation led by Mark Mitchell, the U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary for the Middle East and Africa, to discuss strengthening cooperation in the mining sector.
The discussions focused on expanding bilateral collaboration and exploring new opportunities for investment and partnership in Ethiopia’s mining industry.
During the meeting, Minister Habtamu Tegegne emphasized that the Ethiopian government has identified mining as a strategic priority for driving economic growth.
He highlighted the country’s vast mineral resources and the favorable investment opportunities available for U.S. companies seeking to participate in Ethiopia’s growing mining sector.
Mark Mitchell, for his part, praised the ongoing reforms aimed at improving Ethiopia’s mining industry. He reaffirmed the strong interest of U.S. companies in investing in the sector and expressed the U.S. government’s commitment to supporting greater cooperation between the two countries in mining development.
According to Ethiopia’s Ministry of Mines, both sides underscored the importance of strengthening collaboration to unlock the sector’s potential and promote mutually beneficial investment.
