Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has extended his warm congratulations to Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed and the Prosperity Party following their victory in Ethiopia’s 7th general election.
In a message shared on his official social media page, Prime Minister Anwar stated:
“My warm congratulations to Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed Ali and the Prosperity Party on their victory in Ethiopia’s 7th general election.”
Reflecting on his visit to Ethiopia last year, the first-ever visit by a Malaysian Prime Minister to Addis Ababa, Anwar said he was deeply impressed by the warm reception he received and the meaningful discussions he held with Prime Minister Abiy.
“Prime Minister Abiy and I found that we read the world in much the same way, and that countries of the Global South stand to gain a great deal by working together as equals,” he noted.
The Malaysian leader emphasized that Ethiopia plays a significant role in Malaysia’s engagement with Africa, underscoring the importance of the growing partnership between the two countries.
“There is much that we set in motion last year, and I look forward to carrying it forward together,” Prime Minister Anwar added.
