Addis Ababa Mayor, Adanech Abiebie, has officially handed over a residential house to the family of Blen, a child who has been bedridden for the past ten years due to hydrocephalus, a condition characterized by the accumulation of fluid in the brain.

Blen’s prolonged illness has made daily life extremely challenging for her and her family. A few days ago, Mayor Adanech visited Blen at her home and provided 4 million birr in financial support to enable her to travel abroad for necessary medical treatment.

During that visit, the Mayor noted that the family’s existing living conditions were unsuitable for Blen to continue her prescribed physiotherapy. Considering the severity of her condition, it was extremely difficult for the family to manage in their previous home. To address this, Mayor Adanech decided to provide the family with a safer and more suitable residence.

Today, the modern residential house in Lideta Sub-City was officially handed over to the Blen family. On the occasion, Blen’s father, Ashenafi, received the house key from Mayor Adanech Abiebie.

This initiative highlights the city administration’s commitment to supporting vulnerable families and ensuring that citizens have access to dignified living conditions.
