In a message shared on her official social media page, Addis Ababa Mayor Adanech Abiebie announced that she held a highly productive discussion with Ethiopiaโs Minister of Health, Dr. Mekdes Daba, and the Director General of the Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC), Dr. Jean Kaseya, regarding Addis Ababaโs selection as host city for the 5th International Conference on Public Health in Africa (CPHIA), scheduled for next November.
“We also discussed key areas of collaboration to jointly organize the conference,” the Mayor stated.
Mayor Adanech reaffirmed that, in recent years, Addis Ababa has become an increasingly attractive destination for major international gatherings. She attributed this to the city’s significant infrastructure development, the hospitality of its residents, its secure environment, and its growing capacity to successfully host global events.

In this regard, extensive preparations are underway in collaboration with partners to organize the 5th International Conference on Public Health in Africa under the theme:
“Advancing Africa’s Health Sovereignty and Security Agenda.”
The conference is expected to bring together Heads of State, ministers, public health leaders, policymakers, researchers, development partners, and other key stakeholders.
