The Mayor of Addis Ababa, Adanech Abiebie, has inspected the ongoing construction of the corridor development project stretching from Urael roundabout through Bole Medhanealem Golagol up to the British Embassy, including the revitalization work at Peacock Park.
This initiative represents the ninth corridor launched under the city’s second-round corridor development program. The project covers 11.5 kilometers and incorporates a range of public service facilities.

During her visit, the Mayor noted that the construction is progressing well. She highlighted the transformation of the long-neglected historical Peacock Park, which had been left in severe deterioration. The park is now being restored to international standards, with renewed connectivity to the riverside. Once completed, it will serve as an attractive and vibrant recreational space for residents and visitors.
The Mayor also emphasized that COP32 will be held around the Addey Abeba Stadium, and related corridor development and infrastructure projects are being accelerated to meet required standards and timelines.

Speaking on the benefits of hosting COP32, Mayor Adanech stated that the conference will draw a large number of international participants.
The Mayor noted that it will not only showcase Addis Ababa’s positive image but also bring significant advantages in trade, investment, job creation, market linkages, and broader global opportunities.
Finally, the Mayor called on all residents and the business community to prepare well and play an active role in ensuring the successful hosting of the conference and the overall beautification of the city.
